Covid-19: Here Are Latest Number Of Cases As Ulster, Sullivan Move To Phase 2 Of Reopening

There are more than 500 active novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Ulster and Sullivan counties as the Hudson Valley prepares to enter into Phase 2 of its reopening plans this week.

Since the pandemic hit the region in mid-March, there have been 1,767 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ulster County, with 487 still active. There have been 81 COVID-19-related fatalities, while 1,199 Ulster residents have been treated and are no longer isolated or quarantined due to the virus.

A breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Ulster County, according to the Department of Health:

  • Ulster: 224 confirmed cases (95 active);
  • City of Kingston: 246 (77);
  • Lloyd: 155 (52);
  • Wawarsing: 132 (28);
  • Plattekill: 158 (26);
  • Saugerties: 110 (25);
  • Marlborough: 124 (21);
  • Shawangunk: 112 (21);
  • New Paltz: 86 (18);
  • Esopus: 71 (17);
  • Gardiner: 38 (8);
  • Hurley: 41 (5);
  • Rochester: 36 (4);
  • Rosendale: 40 (4);
  • Olive: 14 (3);
  • Marbletown: 23 (3);
  • Woodstock: 32 (2);
  • Shandaken: 9 (1);
  • Denning: 2 (0);
  • Town of Kingston: 2 (0).

Phase 2 includes office-based jobs, real estate, barbershops, salons, outdoor dining, and expanded retail services.

In Sullivan County, there have been 1,397 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 186 still active. There have been 32 COVID-19 fatalities since the outbreak began. Six hundred twenty-six  Sullivan residents are still in quarantine, with nine patients still hospitalized and being treated for the virus.

Since the outbreak, 2,787 COVID-19 patients have been treated for the virus and have since recovered and taken out of isolation or quarantine.

According to the state Department of Health, 2,555,896 New Yorkers have been tested for COVID-19, with 378,799 testing positive for the virus as of Monday, June 8. There have been 24,299 reported deaths due to COVID-19 in New York.
